Hello

Hello, my name is Joetta. This is my first blog and I am so relieved that I might have finally figured this out (hopefully). I was suppose to start my Residency for ECE - 4th in the fall, but I got offered a job as an aide at my children's school, and if I want to still graduate in December I have to change my schedule up tremendously. One of those changes is taking this class. I am excited to learn more about computer technology because I know it is tremendously important but I am frightened by the prospect of doing it all on my own. So please wish me luck and bare with me. I am a proud mother of three beautiful children, 9,7, and 4 and I have been married for 13 years in August. This was the first summer I have had any time off in a while and we have enjoyed it so much.

Technology within the classroom is so important for many reasons. Technology is always changing and doing so at a very fast pace. Our students need to be exposed to it on a daily bases and have ample opportunity to maneuver it on their own. Technological skills must be taught in a hands on environment where students can use trial and error and personal experiences to acquire knowledge in this particular field. I have seen hands on students in pre-k using a smart board and learning in a very fun way. These children are miles ahead of my knowledge at the age of four. I believe this is a very integral part of educating our children for their future, because their is no telling where technology will advance during their school years little on their life time. In my classroom I plan to integrate technology into our everyday class schedule. I hope to teach younger children so I plan to have computer stations and also do some one on one time and group activities with me leading the class. Children love to interact using computers, smart boards, and projectors. I hope to utilize any equipment at my disposal to teach my students, making sure all the attributes of meaningful learning are covered. I believe that as early childhood educators our responsibility, in-part, is to expose students to technology so they will begin to have experiences and obtain knowledge with skills they will use throughout their education.
